Francesca Sisci

Francesca Sisci is an architect and Ph.D. researcher whose work explores architectural representation through a multidisciplinary lens, bridging art and architectural history and theory with photography and visual perception. Her research focuses on the theoretical legacy of Robert Venturi and includes a pioneering study, conducted under the supervision of Professor David Brownlee (University of Pennsylvania), which uncovered a substantial collection of previously unpublished graphic material related to Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture (1966). This work later became the foundation for her book Il mondo visivo di Robert Venturi, to be published by Quodlibet in 2026. In 2025, she received the H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship from the Society of Architectural Historians (Chicago) for her project The Journey of Female Architecture & Architects, involving research travel to architectural sites connected to matrilineal societies. She has also served as national coordinator and scientific director of a series of events marking Venturi’s centennial, and taught Descriptive Geometry as an adjunct professor at the Politecnico di Bari. Her research has been presented in international journals and conferences, and in 2022 she was awarded the College Italia residency in New York City.
